Atilla YILMAZ M.D. received his medical degree at Istanbul University Cerrahpasa faculty of medicine in 2000 and completed his specialty in Neurosurgery at Mustafa Kemal University Faculty of Medicine in 2013. Shortly after completing his compulsory at Bayburt State Hospital, Dr. YILMAZ started his academic career as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at Mustafa Kemal University Faculty of Medicine. Subsequently, Dr. YILMAZ undertook a clinical fellowship with Prof. Dr. Ali Fahir Ozer at Koc University particularly in the field of spine surgery and worked as an observer at the University of Florida Center for Movement Disorders and Neurorestoration and University of Florida Health Shands Hospital with Prof. Dr. Kelly D. Foote and Prof. Dr. Michael S. Okun particularly in the field of Deep Brain Stimulation and Neuromodulation Surgeries in 2016 and 2017.

Dr. YILMAZ’s major fields of interest include Functional Neurosurgery and Neuromodulation surgeries (Deep Brain Stimulation, Spinal cord stimulation, Sacral nerve stimulation, Vagal nerve stimulation, Intrathecal Baclofen Pump implantation). Additionally, he has a remarkable experience in War surgery. His work in the fields of DBS and neuromodulation has been extensively published. As a consultant and proctor for several international companies (the manufacturer of neuromodulation devices) he teaches courses for physicians on how to perform neuromodulation surgeries He has many observers from Turkey and abroad especially from the Middle East. He pioneered the opening of many new neuromodulation centers throughout the country.

Dr. YILMAZ is highly fluent in English and Arabic and married with two children. Dr. YILMAZ still holds a post as an Associate Professor on Department of Neurosurgery at University of Okan Medical School.
